Gods and Monsters Collection: Operation-Only Supply

The Gods and Monsters Collection was released on May 26, 2015 alongside Operation Bloodhound. Like the Norse Collection that produced the Gungnir, this collection was never tied to a weapon case— skins could only be obtained through rare operation drops during Bloodhound's limited run. Once the operation ended, no new Medusas could enter the market. This makes Medusa one of the most supply-constrained AWP skins in CS2, alongside Gungnir and Dragon Lore. The permanently fixed supply means prices are driven purely by demand fluctuations, and the long-term trend has been consistently upward since 2015.

Unique Wear Behavior: No Scratches, Only Patina

AWP Medusa has one of the most unusual wear behaviors in CS2. Unlike virtually every other skin in the game, Medusa never develops scratchesat any float value. Instead, the skin undergoes a gradual patina darkening — the vibrant teal and blue tones of Factory New progressively shift toward darker, greener hues as float increases. The Gorgon artwork on the stock remains fully visible at every float, even at 0.99. This unique behavior means that even Battle-Scarred copies retain strong visual appeal, which is why BS Medusas hold value at $1,700–2,000 — far closer to FN pricing than most skins. The Green Witch: Why Some Collectors Want High Float

At Battle-Scarred float 0.8+, the patina darkening reaches its peak and the entire skin takes on a distinctive dark green tint — the "Green Witch" effect. While most skins lose value at high floats, Green Witch Medusas have developed a dedicated collector following. The dark green aesthetic is viewed as an entirely different look from the teal FN version, almost like a separate skin. Ultra-high float copies (0.95+) are particularly sought after. This creates an unusual market dynamic where both the lowest and highest float Medusas command premiums over the middle range — a U-shaped price curve that's unique among CS2 skins.
